Our View of the World – Basalt Centric of Course!

Basalt is not understood.  The background image here is Basalt in its native environment – happy in salt water – not rusting or corroding – before it is crushed, heated, and extruded, and then converted into basalt fiber-based products.

We’ve grown up with Steel, Fiber Glass, Concrete, and Wood all around us. These are all accepted building materials. Yet, long before these were in common use, Basalt was one of the world’s main building blocks.  Today, steel is the default material for rigidity and strength, yet it decays and fails. By comparison, Basalt is a stronger, safer, greener, and longer-lasting material. Yet, hardly anyone is aware of it and its amazing abilities.

This blog contains a growing series of articles where we explain our world from a basalt-centric perspective.  If you’d like us to expound on an area where basalt is used, or could be used, please drop us a line.
